Chief Executive Officer
EC Sykes joined SWITCH as Chief Executive Officer in 2013, bringing a strong record of rapidly scaling technology companies. EC's international experience developing innovative business solutions with strategic partners will be a part of expanding the markets served by SWITCH. He has extensive experience in aggressive organic growth and mergers and acquisitions of technology companies ranging from startups to Fortune 500. Most recently, EC served as Group President of Flextronics' Industrial and Emerging Industries, a $28B Fortune 500 company, where he managed $4B in revenue, over 300 customers in 20 countries and 60 locations including several emerging technologies like LED lighting. EC was also Vice President and General Manager at various Flextronics locations including Guadalajara, Mexico and North Carolina. Prior to Flextronics, EC was CEO of Circuit Board Assemblers, a design and manufacturing service provider. Sykes holds a BSEE and Masters in Management from North Carolina State University and serves on the Board of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. He has held board positions at a regional hospital, various business groups and is an active supporter of a number of charitable organizations.
CEO & Managing Partner, VantagePoint Capital Partners
Alan Salzman is cofounder of VantagePoint Venture Partners and serves as CEO and Chair of the Investment Committee. As a leading venture investor for over 20 years, Salzman has had hands-on involvement in more than 300 companies and has held overall management responsibilities for a dozen venture funds with over $5 billion of committed capital. As CEO of VantagePoint, he oversees the country's largest CleanTech investment team, a portfolio of innovative CleanTech companies and strategic partnerships with a dozen leading companies focused on CleanTech commercialization. Salzman is a frequent contributor and speaker on CleanTech, innovation and global competitiveness. He has served as Finance Chair of the World Business Summit on Climate Change, on the BP Alternative Energy Advisory Board and held a decade-long faculty appointment as Adjunct Professor for Venture Capital and Entrepreneurial Companies at Stanford University. He currently serves on the Leadership Council of The Climate Group, and the World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer Selection and Green Investment Committees. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group. He is a graduate (GC, BA, JD, LLM) of the London School of Economics, the University of Toronto, Stanford Law School and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
Chief Technical Officer
David Horn joined SWITCH as CTO in 2009, bringing a diverse knowledge base and skill set in strategic business planning, execution of complex multi-disciplined projects and constructive team leadership. With 30 years of experience in high-technology operations development and management, Horn has led all SWITCH activities, from product research and development to operations. He has managed planning and preparations for R&D, testing, validation, contract manufacturing and ultimate product commercialization for the advanced LED lamp solution. Prior to SWITCH, he held technology development and executive management positions at JDSU, Big Bear Networks, Harmonic Lightwave, SDL and XMR. He holds a MS in Applied Sciences from UC Davis/Lawrence Livermore Labs and a BS in Physics from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo.
Executive Vice President, International
Bill Lenihan joined SWITCH in April 2012 as Executive Vice President, primarily responsible for building and managing SWITCH's international efforts and developing specialty channels and end-markets. Bill brings a strong background to the SWITCH team, with experience at companies including Bain & Company, Goldman Sachs, and Calera Capital. As Managing Director at Calera Capital, Bill led the firm's efforts in the industrial and consumer industries. He was involved with such companies as Juno Lighting, Tapco International, and IPS Corporation and his experience includes efforts around geographic expansion, channel development, new product introductions, acquisitions, organizational development, financial planning, efficiency improvements, procurement, logistics and cost restructurings. Prior to joining Calera Capital, Bill was with Goldman Sachs & Co. where he managed and pursued investment opportunities within the Principal Investment Area. He began his career with Bain & Company, Inc. and CS First Boston. Most recently, Bill served as Co-Founder and CEO of LL Golf Corporation, where he co-led efforts in building a national golf ownership and management company, raised $200 million of funding, and built a high caliber operating team and Board of Directors. He received a B.A. cum laude in Business and Economics from UCLA and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a dual degree in Strategic Management and Finance.
Senior Vice President of North American Sales
Ed Weaver brings more than 20 years of lighting industry experience to his role as senior vice president of North American Sales for Switch Lighting. He was most recently vice president and general manager in charge of the electrical distribution channel at Acuity Brands. Ed was responsible for increasing revenue and margins and developing vertical market opportunities with Acuity’s largest strategic accounts. He has also served in a range of leadership positions, focusing on both commercial/industrial and retail channels, in product development, operations, sales and marketing at Acuity Brands, Pass & Seymour and GE Lighting. He is a graduate of the University of Florida with a BS in Economics.
Senior Vice President of Operations
Tom Leitzke joined SWITCH as Senior Vice President of Operations in October 2013. Tom is an International Operations Executive and leader with a history of developing highly collaborative teams. Tom comes to us from Brooks Automation where he was Senior Vice President of Global Operations. Prior to Brooks Automation, Tom ran Global Operations for Asyst and held the position of Executive Managing Director of Supply Chain at Applied Materials. In multiple companies Tom has led teams responsible for improving operational performance. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indiana Institute of Technology.
